It was a long and stormy night… no oh, it’s a joke hahaha. But I can say that at the time I had a stormy night inside me. I was just a little provincial employee. I filled myself with numbers, cards and dreams. The biggest? Obviously the photograph. Implementing the theory of communicating vessels, I waited that the spring was loaded of “leave everything and run “. And so, from night to day, I left a good job, a good salary and the beautiful people I worked with, to throw myself headlong into the world of photography !!
Do you know when people said that “this guy has a gift”? well, I think my gift is to understand people. Obviously I am not here to take away the work of psychologists, but I am not exaggerating when I say that, looking into the eyes of those who photograph, I can understand many things. Emotions, feelings and empathy.
My greatest satisfaction is the “Thank You” of the people who look with shining eyes at my … their photographs.
Let’s say that when you make a choice it is normal to be afraid and it is normal to think that you have got it all wrong. It was a bit like when you want to cross the street: look for the pedestrian crossing, check that everything is ok and decisively cross the street. There! Exactly like that. You only have fear when you DO NOT know a thing. When you throw yourself into something you don’t know: I had everything inside. It was like entering a world I already knew!
The country where I live is the realm of SLOW. It is a refuge from the world that constantly runs against itself. It is a mountain town exactly in the center of Abruzzo, where children play on the street, where there are still keys attached to the front door of the house, where people greet each other and where the bread smells of bread. Here: this question drives me crazy. because I live on scents and sensations. In this period (winter) I find entrancing going around on foot in the evening and feeling the silence enveloped by the smell of burnt wood from the chimneys of almost all the houses. Yes the chimneys, the return to the hearth, to the pot that slowly cooks the beans: that’s what’s in my photographs. Slowness
Music: wow! I live on music. I listen to the order in the morning as soon as I wake up, in the car, in the office, at lunch and dinner, while I take a shower, when I sleep. The music is crazy. It is art. And art evokes art! the three favorite songs? I think I don’t have any. It would be a waste to leave behind the other thousand thousand photographs I love. I can tell you though that I listen to a genre of music based on what I’m doing. An example: when I choose the photographs of a wedding I listen to Jazz, when I do post-production listening to Metal. I let the music help me !! P.S. the only group I have always loved: Pearl Jam.
I have never had a predisposition for IDOLS (in politics as in art). This is a question I am asked in many, indeed. My answer is always the same: I admire photographers who are first and foremost beautiful people. Those rich people inside and cheerful outside. And then they know how to tell the life they see with their eyes, through the camera. There was a guy who said that the photographs are not faded with the camera: but with the eyes and the heart and the head (HCB)
The light. I am fascinated by light, by how it falls on objects and the shadows it creates. Don’t you find it incredible that light creates shadow?
Mine are not old-fashioned workshops, where 30-40 photographers do nothing but photographs models. My ws are up to 10 colleagues. We talk about photography, light, a “slow” approach to an increasingly frenetic world of photography. Where do they take place? Where I find inspiration. The next one will be in the beautiful hills of the Marche. It will be devoted entirely to analogue photography (yes, we will develop photos in the dark room) and we will talk about storytelling: how to tell a story in photography. If the objective is analog photography, post production is close to zero! 10 years ago I started doing photography by telling myself: the photographs are made when they are taken. If the photo is “corrected” to the computer, that is Graphics not photography. That’s why I love the roll: photography is what it is! My albums: I absolutely print them. I know what I want to achieve, how much they must be “hot” and personal Ah, mold on Fine Art paper. Nothing could be more magical. When you browse through my album, you look at it and caress it

The journey has always been a passion of mine. Italy is a wonderful country and I feel fortunate to be able to visit it far and wide. Going away from home to work definitely keeps me away from the family. But all I do, I do it for them. The embrace of my 3 women when she returns home, I fill more than anything else.
If I talked to you as a photographer I would like to talk to the aforementioned Caravaggio. I wouldn’t ask him anything: I’d let him talk WOW … !!! If I talked to you, instead, from Andrea, I would like to talk to my grandfather: I would ask him how he managed to survive the Nazi concentration camp (in Dachau) and how he managed to walk back from Germany to Italy. My hero.
I’m myself. I am cheerful and I am (semi) severe when needed. But above all, happiness predominates. Talk, sing, play together as soon as we can. But above all teach one of the most important values: respect. Always respect everyone and above all respect their thoughts. I would like them to grow slow inside but 100% dynamic. But above all I would like them to do just what makes them happy.

Interesting question. As a camera, I would recommend a Canon from 1978 on film. 70-80 euros of pure magic. Unfortunately I’m not an amateur photographer: I’m not interested in camera models: I’m not interested in the medium, I’m interested in the result. I work with a little camera (the digital one) that is 7-8 years old I think. Ah, but it’s old. No it is functional.

Era una notte lunga e tempes…no vabbè scherzo ahahah. Però diciamo che all’epoca avevo la notte tempestosa dentro di me. Ero un semplice impiegatuccio di provincia. Mi riempivo di numeri di carte e di sogni. Il più grande? Evidentemente la fotografia. Attuando la teoria dei vasi comunicanti, ho atteso che si caricasse la molla dell’….”ABBANDONA TUTTO E SCAPPA” Ed ecco che dalla notte al giorno ho lasciato un bel lavoro, un ottimo stipendio e delle belle persone con cui lavoravo, per buttarmi a capofitto nel mondo della fotografia!!
Hai presente quando si dice che quel tizio ha un dono? bè, credo che il mio sia quello di capire le persone. Ovvio che non sono qui a togliere il lavoro agli psicologi, ma non esagero se dico che guardando negli occhi chi fotografo, riesco a capire molte cose. Emozioni, sensazioni ed empatia
La mia più grande soddisfazioni è il “Grazie” delle persone che guardano con gli occhi lucidi le mie…loro fotografie.
Diciamo che quando fai una scelta è normale avere paura ed è normale pensare di aver sbagliato tutto. E’ stato un pò come quando vuoi attraversare la strada: cerchi le strisce pedonali, controlli che tutto sia ok e con decisione attraversi la strada. Ecco! Esattamente così. La paura ce l’hai solo quando NON conosci una cosa. Quando ti lanci a fare un qualcosa che non conosci: io avevo tutto dentro. Era come entrare in un mondo che già conoscevo!
Il paese in cui vivo è il regno dello SLOW. E’ un rifugio dal mondo che corre costantemente contro se stesso. E’ un paese di montagna esattamente al centro dell’Abruzzo. Dove i bambini giocano per strada, dove ci sono ancora le chiavi attaccate alla porta d’ingresso di casa, dove ci si saluta e dove il pane profuma di pane. Ecco: questa domanda mi fa impazzire. Perchè io vivo di profumi e di sensazioni. In questo periodo (inverno) trovo estasiante andare in giro a piedi di sera e sentire il silenzio avvolto dal profumo della legna bruciata dei camini di quasi tutte le case. Sì i camini, il ritorno al focolare, alla pignatta che lentamente cuoce i fagioli: ecco cosa c’è nelle mie fotografie. La lentezza
La musica: wow! Io vivo di musica. Nell’ordine la ascolto la mattina appena sveglio, in macchina, in ufficio, a pranzo e a cena, mentre faccio la doccia, quando dormo. E’ pazzesca la musica. E’ arte. E l’arte evoca l’arte! le tre canzoni preferite? credo di non averne. Sarebbe uno spreco lasciare indietro le altre mille mila fotografie che adoro. posso dirti però che io ascolto un genere di musica in base a quello che sto facendo. Un esempio: quando scelgo le fotografie di un matrimonio ascolto Jazz, quando faccio post-produzione ascolto Metal. Io mi faccio aiutare dalla musica!! p.s. unico gruppo che adoro da sempre: i Pearl Jam.
Non ho mai avuto una predisposizione per gli IDOLI (nella politica come nell’arte) Questa è una domanda che mi pongono in parecchi, in verità. La mia risposta è sempre la stessa: ammiro i fotografi che sono innanzitutto delle belle persona. Quelle persone ricche dentro e allegre fuori . E che poi sappiano raccontare la vita che vedono con i loro occhi, attraverso la macchina fotografica. C’era un tizio che diceva che le fotografie non si fanno con la macchina fotografica: ma con gli occhi e con il cuore e con la testa (HCB)
La luce. Sono affascinato dalla luce, da come cade sugli oggetti e dalle ombre che crea. Non trovi incredibile che la luce crea l’ombra?
i miei non sono dei workshop alla vecchia maniera, dove 30-40 fotografi non fanno altro che fotografare modelle. I miei ws sono di massimo 10 colleghi. Si parla di fotografia, di luce, di approccio “slow” ad un mondo della fotografia sempre più frenetico. Dove si svolgono? dove trovo l’ispirazione. Il prossimo sarà nelle splendide colline delle Marche. Sarà dedicato interamente alla fotografia analogica (sì, svilupperemo foto in camera oscura) e si parlerà di storytelling: come si racconta una storia in fotografia. Una cosa è fare fotografie, un’altra è raccontare una storia
In queste domanda centri sempre in pieno il bersaglio. LA MAGIA. Ecco cosa c’è nel fare fotografie con la pellicola. E’ tutto così incredibile. Ti spinge a pensare prima di fare la fotografia. Incroci i tempi e i diaframmi, poi guardi cosa succede al di là dell’obiettivo ed infine inquadri e scatti. E cosa hai scattato? com’è venuta la fotografia? e qui prendo in prestito la pubblicità del mio amato CAMPARI: “l’attesa del piacere è essa stessa il piacere”. Ecco che torna il discorso di SLOW di attesa di calma di respirare e attendere. La fotografia che hai scattato la puoi vedere solo quando la svilupperai. Fra un giorno, due, una settimana. E tu sei lì che impazzisci di “piacere”: che esploderà quando ti arriva lo sviluppo. Tutto questo è stato azzerato completamente dalla tecnologia, dagli iphone per esempio. Siamo sommersi da fotografie. Che non vedrà mai nessuno. Di cui dimenticheremo l’esistenza. Scatta con il rullino da 24 e saranno 24 fotografie tue!
Se l’obiettivo è la fotografia analogica, la post produzione è vicina allo zero. 10 anni fa ho cominciato a fare fotografia dicendomi: la fotografie nasce nel momento in cui si scatta. Se la foto la si “corregge” al computer, quella è Grafica non fotografia. Ecco perchè adoro il rullino: la fotografia è come è! I miei album: li stampo io assolutamente. So io cosa voglio ottenere, quanto devono essere “caldi” e personali Ah, stampo su carta Fine Art. Niente di più magico. Quando sfogli un mio album lo guardi e lo accarezzi

Il viaggio è sempre stata una mia passione. L’Italia è un Paese meraviglioso e mi sento fortunato a poterlo visitare in lungo e in largo. Andare lontano da casa a lavorare mi tiene sicuramente distante dalla famiglia. Ma tutto quello che faccio , lo faccio per loro. L’abbraccio delle mie 3 donne quando torno a casa, mi riempie più di qualsiasi altra cosa.
Se ti parlassi da fotografo vorrei parlare con il summenzionato Caravaggio. Non gli chiederei niente: lo lascerei parlare WOW…!!! Se ti parlassi, invece, da Andrea, vorrei parlare con mio nonno: gli chiederei come è riuscito a sopravvivere al campo di concentramento dei nazisti (a Dachau) e come ha fatto a tornare a piedi dalla Germania in Italia. Mio eroe.
Sono me stesso. Sono allegro e sono (semi)severo quando occorre. Ma su tutte, predomina l’allegria. Parlare, cantare, giocare assieme appena si può. Ma soprattutto insegnare uno dei più importanti valori: il rispetto. Rispetta sempre tutti e soprattutto rispetta il loro pensiero. Vorrei che crescessero slow dentro ma dinamiche al 100%. Ma soprattutto vorrei che facessero solo quello che le renda felici.

Il segreto? Chiedetelo a mia moglie hahah. Secondo me il segreto di un buon matrimonio è il compromesso. O meglio: il passo indietro. Mi spiego. Ho sempre ritenuto infantile e inutile quando una persona dice “E’ una questione di principio” Quante volte l’avete sentito? Ebbene: se fra due persone che vivino assieme non si fa un passo indietro su alcune questioni, queste diventano problemi, si ergono muri e si finisce dall’ avvocato. Tuo marito non mette mai il tappo al dentifricio? mettilo apposto tu. Se ti arrabbi e ti rovini il fegato per un tappo…bè….direi che la fine è vicina!!!

Domanda interessante. Come macchina fotografica consigliere una canon del 1978 a rullino. 70-80 euro di pura magia. Purtroppo non sono un fotoamatore: non mi interesso di modelli di macchine fotografiche: non mi interessa il mezzo, mi interessa il risultato. Io lavoro con una macchina fotografica (quella digitale) che ha 7-8 anni credo. Ah ma è vecchia. No è funzionale.

Sì c’è. Ed è Ernesto Guevara. Ho un’idea di lui che mi porto da quando ero adolescente. E’ un’idea semplice: dare tutto per un’idea. Me lo son portato dietro nelle manifestazioni in giro per l’italia, a Genova contro il G8. Era sempre lì: come da stimolo. Lotta sempre per una tua idea.
