Here I am.
I’m Rho ‘… everyone has always called me in this way and so now I feel Rho’, even if my name is Rosaria Iob. Recently I entered the fantastic world of “forty” and I am at a very personal turning point.
Forty years old, married since 3, with a daughter of 2, and soon I will be unemployed, after 11 years of work in the same company, and a thousand other small jobs before.
At this point, I thought, for once in my life, I try to throw myself into a project that I like. I have always worked to “bring the salary home” and I really did whatever work I could, with more or less feeling. I washed dishes, sold underpants, peeled potatoes, organized fairs, sent electronic documents, received e-mails, made accounts. From 2004 to 2008 I also had my own store. The first and only time I felt really enthusiastically working. It was my world, I treated it like my baby. Unfortunately the accounts at the end of the month did not allow me to raise this child as I would have liked, and then I had to relinquish my business in spite of it, paying for its maintenance for a few more years afterwards. I really couldn’t resist …
After this setback I opted for a permanent job and my office was not so bad … alone, in the midst of paperwork, with a fixed thought that it was a temporary job … and the years have passed,… flew in truth … In these years I have lived experiences that have mentally and physically proven me … A beautiful herniated disc that blocked my back for 2 months, until the inevitable intervention that put me back on my feet; a thyroid cancer, which has been removed and should not do more damage (or at least we hope); I lost my dad for a degenerative neurological disease (which I will probably never accept) until one year ago, the year when my husband was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. We did not miss anything in short!
Despite the difficulties, in any case, I managed to move forward and, perhaps also thanks to what I experienced, I learned to enjoy things, even the smallest ones. To never wait tomorrow, to “suck out all the marrow of life” as Thoreau said (also mentioned in the film “Dead Poets Society”). I have traveled as much as I could and today I try to do as many experiences as possible. Two years ago, moreover, the greatest gift. Alice, our little hooligan, has arrived. An explosion of emotions … she and we with her …
Returning to the concept of starting, now I find myself not so young anymore longer, having to look for a job again. I am one of those people who always broods, even when I sleep, so, between one thought and another, the light came on. What are the things I love to do? I like traveling, I like art and photography, I like people … not all people, it’s clear … but I like listening to people’s stories. The main idea for this blog was born watching TV. On television today there is a lot of people who have nothing interesting to say, yet they are well paid only to be there to make the beautiful statue, while in the world there are so many interesting, brilliant people , with baggage of experiences to make you gasp. I also love trying to get into the lives of others … into the heads of others, more than anything else. Internet today gives you the opportunity to get in touch with an infinite number of people, all over the world !!! Why not use this magic?
From this basic idea my interviews are born and, I can assure you, I was able to “get to know” really fantastic and helpful people, who took it seriously and answered my questions so deeply that I don’t deny that I cried on more occasions …
So GO! I won’t be able to give up the search for a permanent job … I still have a baby to feed … but I can cultivate this project in parallel and I thank everyone helped me; I thank everyone has sent me his answers; I thank everyone will read my interviews; I thank everyone… even those who have come to read my words up to here!
If someone wants to receive their own personal interview and think they have important messages to give, interesting things to tell, or simply time to lose, they can contact me by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org or fill in the format at the bottom of the page.
And now…. Finally it’s off! Happy reading to all!
